Over The Wall is a charity providing free, residential activity camps for children with serious illnesses at various locations, one of which is usually at Bryanston School which included youngsters from this area amongst the 1000 children taking part nationwide last year.

The Covid-19 emergency has led not only to the cancellation of this year’s camp, but also impacted on the charity’s fundraising, and it has launched an emergency appeal: otw.org.uk/emergency-appeal, to keep the camps alive in the future and help #savethemagic.

A spokesman said: “The ability to run our camps relies heavily on their medical volunteer team of doctors, nurses and paramedics, who help to provide a safe environment for our campers, making it possible for them to spend some rare time away from home, have some fun and create some mischief!

“Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, we have had no choice but to cancel this year’s camps since our incredible volunteers are all busy working on the frontline of the NHS saving lives. Once lockdown restrictions are lifted and ‘normal life’ resumes for most people, the NHS will be recovering for a longer period of time and we have had to account for this and the impact that it will have on our service delivery.”
